WHAT IS EXCEPTIONAL ABOUT THIS COMPETITION
The contest is aimed specifically at producers of rosé wines. This exclusivity will allow the jury to concentrate on the unique qualities of the wines, which may have been overlooked at those wine competitions that do not specialize in this category.
It will also allow us to group the wines carefully with regard to their dryness, grape varieties, vintage, barrel ageing/fermenting or deliberate decisions of winemakers (e.g. bottling without filtration).
The competition takes a new approach to wine judging so as to avoid the shortcomings of many contemporary wine contests. Instead of summing up points awarded on the basis of parametrical analyses judges will take their time to discuss the individuality and style of every single wine in the flight.
The members of the jury have been chosen from among the most knowledgeable experts in rosé wine (including Masters of Wine) representing various countries of the wine world.
The bottles left after the competition will be used to promote rosé wines on the Polish market during the autumn ENOEXPO in Krakow, the biggest wine fair in Poland. The top ten wines will be presented at a special master class during the exhibition.
The award grades are as follows:
Grand Gold Medal (93 points and more)
Gold Medal (89-92 points)
Silver Medal (86-88 points)
Alongside the standard medal awards,
a special "Best Value" prize will be conferred on the best value-for-money products.
Short, but very sweet! Approximately 180 samples from many countries, some of them fascinating and others most unusual. It is certainly the first time that I have ever tasted a blend of Petit Verdot and Pinot Noir! The tasting was, in my opinion, a splendid initiative that must and certainly will be repeated.
